A recent Wells Fargo Survey found that 40% of respondents expect stock market volatility to persist. It also found that volatility is “clearly starting to wear on investors and only 36% of respondents expressed confidence in the market in the first quarter, down from 43% in the previous quarter.”

MetLife announced yesterday that it would be selling its advisor unit to Mass Mutual. The sale price was $300 million and impacts roughly 4,000 reps. As part of the deal MetLife will be the exclusive provider of certain annuity products offered by Mass Mutual.

Actuarial Guideline 49

The second part of AG 49 will take effect March 1, 2016. The first part of this guideline capped current illustrated rates on FIUL’s. The second component puts a cap on the spread between the loan rate and credited rate for an FIUL. It is important to remember that if you have pending IUL business that issues March 1st or later that a new signed NAIC illustration will be required to place the policy in force.
